What It Is
A unique opportunity for selected Indonesian University students to learn about working for the U.S. Mission to Indonesia and ASEAN. Opportunities are open for all degree programs.
This internship program is one part of the overall United States – Indonesia partnership that strengthens people-to-people ties with Indonesia’s student population. The program will start on June 22, 2020. This is an unpaid program; no compensation and benefits are offered.
Types of Programs:
- 3-month program
- 6-month program
- 12-month program
In 2020, we have the following internship duration terms:
- 3-month program: begin on June 22, 2020 and end on August 28, 2020
- 6-month program: begin on June 22, 2020 and end on December 23, 2020
- 12-month program: begin on June 22, 2020 and ends May 2021

- U.S. Embassy reviews applications
February 18 -28, 2020 - Interviews
March 16 – 27, 2020 - Conditional Offers
April 6 – 10, 2020 (by email) - Clearance process
April 13 – May 29, 2020 - Formal Offers
June 8 – 12, 2020 (by email) - Internship First Day
June 22, 2020 - Ends of Ten-week Internship
August 28, 2020
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
- Indonesian citizen
- Minimum 18 years old
- Current university student with minimum GPA 2.75 with proof university transcript submitted
- English literate
- Personal medical insurance
- Students must be in their 3rd year of a Bachelors program or in 1st year of a Masters program
- No compensation or benefits

- Statement of Interest
- Gratuitous Service Agreement
- Official transcript illustrating good academic standing
- Letter of permission from the educational institution to accept internship with U.S. Embassy Jakarta
- Confirmation letter regarding personal medical insurance

Selection and Offer
- The HR Office reviews all applications. Approved applications are forwarded to the appropriate selecting official.
- Once the selecting official has interviewed students and made selections, HR extends conditional offer letters, contingent upon successful security and medical certifications.
- The medical appointment is paid by the U.S. Government.
- Hours expected each day may vary from intern to intern depending on agreement with the supervisor and type of internship.
