The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) was established in 2005. It is an EU agency aimed at strengthening Europe’s defenses against infectious diseases. It is located in Solna, Sweden. ECDC works in three key strategic areas: it provides evidence for effective and efficient decision-making, it strengthens public health systems, and it supports the response to public health threats.

Eligibility
Participants must follow the eligibility criteria-
- For the award, citizens of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the UK are eligible.
- Students can apply for the training programs in epidemiology and microbiology of public health.
- Must be nationals of a Member State of the EU/EEA and should have experience in public health, epidemiology or microbiology.
How to Apply
- Participants can apply for, EPIET and EUPHEM programs Online. And must submit case Id provided by online submission to ecdc.epietfellow@ecdc.europa.eu
- They must submit Detailed EUROPASS Curriculum Vitae (Personal Information should include address, date of birth, telephones, emails, and nationality) and Letter of motivation.
- Also must meet the following criteria, In order to be eligible for the ECDC training Programme, candidates for both paths need to fulfill the following set of formal requirements-
- Be a national of a Member State of EU/EEA* and
- Be entitled to her or his full rights as a citizen.
- Applications must be in English, the working language of the Centre. You may be requested at a later stage to supply documentary evidence in original in support of the statements that you make for these applications.
Specific Eligibility Requirements For EPIET Path:
Post-secondary education attested by a diploma in medicine, public health, epidemiology, veterinary medicine, nursing, biology, microbiology, pharmacology, biomedicine or other health and social sciences, at the level of Graduate diploma or Masters’ degree or equivalent; and at least one (1) full year working experience in public health or epidemiology.
Specific Eligibility Requirements For EUPHEM Path:
Post-secondary education attested by a diploma in medicine, biology, microbiology, veterinary medicine, pharmacology, or biomedicine, at the level of Graduate diploma or Masters’ degree or equivalent; and at least three (3) years of working experience in microbiology; or a Ph.D. degree in microbiology or equivalent.
For a participant with a background in laboratory sciences, previous experience in public health and epidemiology is an advantage.
